Created by Brie Sheldon

Turn is a slice-of-life supernatural roleplaying game with quiet drama about shapeshifters in small, rural towns. Our Kickstarter funded at 207%, and we're on track to fulfill the core PDF content by March 2019 and the print content by May 2019. Find more details in our Kickstarter updates! Print orders are on hold while we complete our print run, after which we'll be available for print order on Indie Press Revolution!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

To England We Go! (With Moose!)
about 6 years ago – Sat, Dec 01, 2018 at 08:44:11 AM

This? This has been a day

Today we have:

  • Unlocked Meguey Baker's Smeed Hill
  • Unlocked Brie's Confidante
  • Announced content from Mendez for Turn, with content inspired by Turn for Thousand Arrows
    -and, as of right now-ish-
  • Unlocked Halver, Germany by Gerrit Reininghaus

WHEW!

We're approaching the 24-hour mark and we've only got two more goals on the horizon.

First: Brie has a not-so-secret goal at 20K to add the Moose to the beast side of things

Second: Also at 20k, we unlock Harmouth, South Devon by Jaye Foster

Harmouth is a town of two thousand on the South Devon coast. It's once busy harbour is shelter to now only a few fishing boats. The town instead survives as a home for office workers who commute to the city. During the summer the town is almost overwhelmed by working class tourists on holiday to the long thin beach. The locals dislike that their town's economy is dependent on the uncouth and noisy northerners. To the south is the Atlantic Ocean and from it come rain-clouds and seagulls. Upriver is the city, an ever growing conurbation that is seeping downstream, consuming the farmland homes of the badgers.

At 11:59PM EST on 11/30, this campaign ends. We've got a lot of momentum behind us and hitting these last two goals would be amazing. Keep spreading the word, and we'll see where this thing can go. And, always, thank you.

ETA: We dropped under shortly after this posted, but we're holding to it! Keep it going! -Brie

Crossing over with Thousand Arrows? Yes!
about 6 years ago – Sat, Dec 01, 2018 at 08:44:01 AM

James Mendez Hodes, over at the Thousand Arrows Kickstarter, has offered a special benefit for anyone backing both Thousand Arrows and Turn!

If you back both Thousand Arrows and Turn—like, even for a dollar each, whatever—I'll give you a special set of crossover playbooks. One is the Faerie Lands allegiance for Thousand Arrows, which allows you to play a fey immortal or shapeshifting creature from the Japanese backcountry. Are you a tengu bird-goblin, a mischievous raccoon-dog, or a human changeling whisked away to the forest darkness or the dragon palaces at the bottom of the sea? Will you serve the Great Goblins of the Mountains' capricious whims, or give in to your fascination with the human world? You'll also get a hengeyōkai-themed playbook (fox, crab, turtle, or raccoon dog—which would you most want to see?) for Turn which brings Japanese mythology to your small town!

How exciting! If you haven't checked out Thousand Arrows yet, go check it out, and if you do back both Turn and Thousand Arrows, James and I will coordinate after the Kickstarter to confirm your backing. Thanks to James for this awesome opportunity!

Smeed Hill and the Confidant Unlocked!
about 6 years ago – Sat, Dec 01, 2018 at 08:36:28 AM

Onward, to Germany!

We've crossed two goals just recently: $16,000 to unlock Meguey Baker's Smeed Hill, and 525 backers which means Brie is going to add the Confidant to the humans of Turn.

Now we turn out gaze to Halver, Germany. at $18,000 Gerrit Reininghaus (he/him) will invite us to his home town Halver, in rural West Germany.

Halver has rain, lots of rain. Surrounded by the hilly forests of the Sauerland, with an aging population, it seems like a safe place to grow up and live. Well, at least if you are "normal" enough to fit into one of the 100 associations, from skiing, soccer, rabbit breeding or the fire brigade. Maybe it’ll be good, too, if you don’t belong to the kids sent to the lowest level of the highly segregated German school system since Germany is separating the "good" from the "bad" kids already at the age of 10.

And since we're in the last 48 hours homestretch, we've also got a shot to reach $20,000 and unlock both Harmouth, South Devon by Jaye Foster and a secret stretch goal, the Moose animal by Brie!

Expect a number of updates as this campaign continues toward its conclusion. We're making great progress and we want you amazing backers to share this joy with us.

Thank you!

Final days of Turn Kickstarter!
about 6 years ago – Sat, Dec 01, 2018 at 08:35:38 AM

Turn is in its final days on Kickstarter!

The project ends near midnight on November 30th. As I look at it now, I wish I had left in an extra day or two, because we may be coming up short of some of the stretch goals. But, I'm glad that we've come so far!

Right now we are looking at Meguey Baker's Smeed Hill stretch goal,

Smeed Hill will explore a town cut in half by closing mills, then closing schools, and now empty storefronts on Main Street and overgrown houses in the hills. There are still opportunities, but also needs that have yet to be met. Meguey has proposed adding a squirrel and a skunk to the available beast archetypes, wonderful new additions to a small town!

Like the other stretch goals, Smeed Hill will introduce some local NPCs to help your story along, a new town type, new beast archetypes, and a new or altered human role.

It sounds like a wonderful town!

We're also in the running for the 525 backers challenge I issued last night! If we reach 525 backers, I'll release The Confidante,

You don't ask for much in life, just for some peace and quiet, and for people to listen to you once in a while. Well, nobody seems in on that plan, so you spend most of your days hearing pieces of everybody's secrets, even through walls. And yet, no one listens when you cry "wolf!" Though, maybe that's a good thing.

Just a sneak peek!

For the stretch goals that we don't reach, I still hope to pursue them in the future, it just depends on whether I can get the funds together, because I still want to pay people fairly! I want to release Gerrit's Halver, Germany ($18k) and Jaye Foster's Harmouth, South Devon ($20k), and my own work-in-progress, a Moose, which has been a secret goal for $20k for a while. What it means if we don't reach them is that they will take more time, and be dependent on things like future sales and success.

Much like the Overachiever, I'll be juggling a lot trying to make it happen.
Much like the Overachiever, I'll be juggling a lot trying to make it happen.

However, hope ain't just a theme for way stations! We still have over 50 hours to make every bit of this happen that we can. So share, support as you can, and continue to have enthusiasm for Turn! If you can back, that's just swell. If not, raising awareness - especially on different social media and sites - makes a huge difference to Turn's success!

Thank you SO much for any support you have given and any you continue to give!
